Blogs are so 2004!

Four years ago, writing a blog was a new, interactive form of writing available to internet users.  Blogs provided a pathway for many internet users to express themselves in a convenient manner that magnificently simple.  Sadly things in the blogosphere have changed over the past few years and blogs, like everything else, have been overtaken by the capitalist pigs of our society.  Today a majority of the most popular blogs on the internet are written by professionals and companies who employ a team of writers to make post constantly throughout the day.  This in turn has drowned out a large portion of the non-professional bloggers who simply had a passion for writing and self-expression.

The blogosphere takeover isn't really that big of a surprise.  Blogs began gaining popularity almost as soon as they became available to the general public.  Thousands, if not millions of posts a day brought forth changes in internet content and more.  Soon bloggers and many other companies like Google began to realize that blogging had some real potential.  Ads began popping up on blogs throughout the internet and the profits began rolling in.  Companies were capitalizing on the astronomical gains that the blogosphere had presented.  Thus, the professional blog was born and the personal and more intimate form that many once knew began its path toward death.  (At least that's what the article says, I'm not so sure if I agree with that at all.)

Capitalizing on gains is not rocket science, and I'm not surprised this happened. However, I believe that blogging still has a future and that professional blogs are just another part of the growing blogosphere.
