Interestingly enough, Google has found a new way to advertise on it's popular video site, YouTube. The new e-commerce ads allow users to music and other digital goods from Apple iTunes and Amazon which is pretty cool if you think about it. If a users hears a song that he or she likes while watching a video on YouTube they can now click an icon and download the song to the their computer without even having to leave the site.
The reason for the new ad has a lot to do with Google desire to tap into hidden revenue that the site could potentially bring. When Google bought YouTube for 1.65 billion dollars there was no doubt that they anticipated large profits from the investment; however, this has hardly been the case for Google. There have been many instances when Google representatives expressed some type of dissatifaction with the site due to the small amount of revenue it has made since changing hands.
Hopefully, this new e-commerce ad will be the spark that YouTube and Google need to get their money engines going again. Even if it isn't, at least Googlezon is one more step closer to becoming a reality. :)
